Nitrous Oxide and/or Oral Sedation

Home » Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide or dental “laughing gas” is a type of conscious sedation which helps to reduce dental anxiety.

As nitrous oxide is inhaled, it is fast-acting but also leaves the body quickly. The patient stays awake through the procedure and is able to drive normally afterwards, whether to the home or the office.

This form of procedure is not recommended for pregnant patients or patients with breathing disorders.

If additional comfort (almost sleepy experience) is needed, oral sedatives might be prescribed. You need a driver to take you home after the appointment, if this clinical way is taken.
